Branch 161327 (Guisborough) is unable to rollover due to a negative holding of foreign
currency. Manual messagestore changes are required to convert the 1p negative
holding to cash to allow rollover to be possible.
Justification: The office will not be able to rollover and generate trading statements
until the negative holding of foreign currency is resolved.
When: Planned for 17/05/2007 16:00 with a duration of 10 mins
Extra detail: There is -£0.01 worth of Romanian Lei ROL (ProductNo:6788) being held
in stockunit AA at this branch. This holding has existed for a number of months but now
that the reference data for this product has been removed the negative holding is
stranded on the system and preventing the stockunit rollover.
To resolve the problem in stockunit AA we propose to insert an additional opening
figures message for product 6788 (Romanian Lei) to negate the one which is there and
to cause the system to have a zero holding of this currency. We also need to insert an
additional opening figures message for product 1 (Cash) for 1p to ensure there is no
receipts and payments mismatch. Effectively we are converting the holding of Romanian
ROL into Cash.
The fix has been tested on our test counters using a copy of the office's messagestore
and has been found to remove the negative holding and allow rollover without any
issues. To the best of our knowledge the fix will not cause any problems on Post Office
Limited's back end systems.
The two messages inserted will be written on Node 36 and will include .
The branch will be contatced by FS before and after the change, and have been
requested to print and sign a balance snapshot both before and after.
