Regina - v - Susan Jane Rudkin.
Thank you for your letter of the 23rd April enclosing details of the invest-
igations costs.
Mrs. Rudkin attended today's sentencing hearing as Stafford Crown Court
represented by Peter Hampton of Counsel. The case was listed in Court 3
before HHJ Glenn. The Case Officer Mike Wilcox also attended,
For the single count of theft of £43,894-15 Mrs. Rudkin was sentenced to
12 months imprisonment suspended for 2 years. Two requirements were imposed
namely that she performs the maximum of 300 hours unpaid work and submits
to an electronically monitored curfew for 6 months requiring her to be at
home between the hours of 10.00 p.m. and 5,00 p.m. In view of her parlous
financial situation no order was made for costs.
As to the confiscation order the Judge set the following timetable:—
1. Having served the Section 18 Proceeds of Crime Act request on the Defend-
ant today she was ordered to file her own Affidavit within 4 weeks i.e, not
later than the 29th May 2009.
2. The Prosecution Statement is to be served within 6 weeks i.e. by not
laterthan the 10th July.
3. The Defence Response to the Prosecution Statement is to be served within
2 weeks thereafter i.e. by not later than the 24th July.
4, The Hearing itself was fixed for Friday 21st August at 10.00 a.m.
This is in accordance with Ged Harbison's availability. Please notify him
of the date to ensure his attendance.
