My above constituent has been in touch with me (see attached) regarding his concerns over the
Post Office Horizon computer system and the external investigators appointed to examine
alleged deficiencies therein. He is one of those involved in a fraud allegation.

Dear Mrs Lumley
You will see from yesterdays press that the above is now in the public domain and is creating one hell
of a lot of interest from the media.
1 know that PO have appointed an independent Forensic Accountant but this raises some questions.
1. As they are appointing him and paying him does that make him truly independent.
2. He is going to look at some cases, surely he should look at the computer system first because the
cases are as a result of the faulty computer system.
3. a final point is that he should also take into account customers that have experienced problems as
result of the faulty computer systems.ie. where Horizon has taken payments twice or not allowed
payments to be made when funds are available but have in fact taken the money although the
customer receipt states transaction declined insufficient funds.
I have asked James Arbuthnot re my concerns but of course he is governed by the fact that you are
my MP,
