I am accredited by the Assets Recovery Agency as a Financial Investigator I
currently have conduct of a confiscation Investigation in order recover assets
under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002. The case involves the ex Subpostmaster
of Gaerwen Post Office® branch, Mr. Hughie Noel THOMAS who was recently
convicted of False Acco! ry to Section 17 of the Theft Act 196

Mr Thomas has informed us that he and his wife (Mrs EV Thomas) had a joint
Life Insurance Endowment Policy held with The Phoenix Insurance Company,
which has been subsequently surrendered.
Mr Thomas has produced two remittance advices from Phoenix, which I have
associated for information. Could you please tell the following?
e Are these correct copies of documents sent by Phoenix?
e ls it normal practice to issue two cheques for a joint policy, if not why was it
done in this case?
e How was the policy premium paid to Phoenix? (the source bank account)
I confirm that any personal data revealed in this case will be used for the for
these purposes of the confiscation investigation and failure to provide the
information will, in my view, be likely to prejudice these matters.
