I have made a further amendment to the draft answer to reflect our discussion. I have also added
relevant correspondence to the background material.

Alan Cook's letter to Jacqui Smith (copy now attached) does not support Pat's suggested
amendment that 'POL is looking into the issues raised’. This letter and the letter to Brooks Newmark
MP (also attached below as it has not copied well into the background note) make clear that
subpostmasters concerns are always taken seriously and investigated (on an individual basis) and
to date POL has found no case where Horizon has caused accounting errors.

Pat has made a small change to the draft reply. Please could you confirm by 12.00 that you are
content with this.
In addition, Pat has said that in one of the PQ replies you refer to (the one to Brooks Newmark) the
reply states that Alan Cook will reply to the query and a reply placed in the House Libraries. Pat has
asked - has that reply now been made, if so can you attach a PDF of it to the supplementaries. If
not, when do we expect a reply -can that be covered in the supplementaries please.
Can we please have updated briefing by 2pm latest please.
Thanks.
