Thanks for the responses.
David is aiming to formalise this service and, as you say, POL should pay.
Looks like you've booked about a week to this in the last year (see attached time extract) — with other AS contributors
being Alex (only a tad) and Michael Crawshaw.
Is there, realistically, anyone who should shadow you to be able to cover such activity too? Chris B perhaps?

Dave,
In response to your questions:
I understand you act from time to time to support our prosecution support activity -— sort of an ‘expert witness’ I
suppose.
I have a few initial questions on this...
= How frequent is this typically and with how much notice is there usually?
It is ad hoc. I guess I tend to have various questions from Penny a couple of times a month.
= How much effort does this typically take?
It varies. Normally about half an hour or so, but this sounds like more than that. If it is likely to take long I suggest
that Penny gets POL to pay.
= Where do you book the time you spend on this?
I have a code for prosecution Support that comes out of the CS Budget (Project 116594 Task 120.100)
* Does anyone else in the Requirements or Developments teams do activity like this?
I think Alan Holmes helps in providing guidance eon Audit and also Gerald barnes is involved in filtering events
Qthough these are perhaps covered separately. Not sure how they book their time.
= Is there anyone else who should cover this activity as well as/instead of yourself?
“Should”, then probably Yes. “Could”, then probably No!
Many thanks.
NB, I was unaware that David had told Penny not to come to me with such requests!
Regards
Gareth

Penny,
We have not identified anyone else who can take this on at present so this will
need to be handled by Gareth.

David
We had a conversation last week and you advised me I should no longer ask Gareth
to support our prosecution support activity. I now have a request from POL, which
they would like addressed prior to Christmas, and I need an expert to respond.
Could you please help me to identify a suitable candidate?
I attach the reports provided by the defence's ‘technical expert' and the
correspondence from POL is in the e-mail string, below. We have already enlisted
the help of engineering for questions 1) to 6) in the note dated 26 November
2009. If required, I can request copies of witness statements referenced in the
"technical expert report' from POL.
I'd be grateful for your help.
Kind regards
Penny

I attach a report from the defence expert where he has highlighted a
number
of problems with the Horizon system. Our barrister, Warwick Tatford has
asked that the problemswith Horizon that he has raised in his report are
replied to in a witness statement form. I presume that an employee of
fujitsu would have to produce the witness statement.

1) Please provide details of any business testing carried out by the

Office on the system before it went live.
2) Please provide the service logs for the system at West Byfleet PO
for a
period commencing six months prior to the defendant taking over as sub
postmistress (30/06/2005) to the present day.
3) Please confirm when and why the hardware in the system at West
Byfleet
PO has been changed.
4) By whom have these changes been made.
5) When new hardware was installed at West Byfleet was it brand new or
reconditioned
6) If it is the latter please confirm the identity of the PO from which
the
reconditioned hardware came and why the hardware has been removed from
that
PO.
