HOLYHEAD MAGISTRATES COURT - 16™ FEBRUARY 2006 AT 11AM
The above named Defendant is summoned to appear at Holyhead Magistrates’ Court
at 11am on the 16” February 2006 to answer the charges set out on the attached
schedule . I have informed the Court of your interest.
Please attend to conduct the prosecution as my Agents on behalf of Royal Mail Group
pic and, if mode of trial is dealt with, please inform the Court that the prosecution
considers the case to be more suitable for trial on Indictment. Please seek an
adjournment of 8 weeks for preparation of the papers.
Following each hearing, could you please inform this Office of the result within 48
hours so that any necessary action may be taken. If it is not possible to let me have a
written communication within this time please telephone within 48 hours and confirm in
writing as soon as possible.
A copy of the initial advice given by this Office regarding prosecution and evidence is
associated for your information.
The facts of the matter are as set out in the enclosed copy Advance Information
Summary prepared by a Lawyer in this Office. A copy has been supplied to the
Defence Solicitors Messrs Tudor Owen Roberts Glynne & Co of 6-8 Stanley Street,
Holyhead, LL65 1HG. A further copy of the summary only for use by the Probation
Service, should they request it
In the event of the Magistrates accepting jurisdiction the facts of the matter are as set
out in the Advance Information summary.
The committal papers and form 14A will be prepared and will be served on the Court
and Defendant / Defence Solicitors in due course. A copy will be forwarded for your
use.

In the event of a summary conviction I should be obliged if you would apply on behalf
‘of Royal Mail Group pic for an order for compensation to be made against the
Defendant in the sum of £48,454.87 and also an order for payment of a contribution
towards the prosecution costs by the Defendant in the sum of not less than £120 plus
£100 for each additional hearing plus any witnesses’ expenses should be sought in
accordance with the Court of Appeal decision in Regina v Associated Octel Ltd [1997]
1 CR.APP.R.(S)435 please also apply for the costs of investigation in a sum to be
notified to you. In this event please give to the Clerk the enclosed letter relating to the
payment of costs and compensation.
A copy of the confidential report of the Officer in the case is enclosed. Should you
require sight of the Investigation Service's papers, please contact the Officer.
