Apologies for not getting this update to you on Friday.
Minister's briefing:
The letter to the Minister was sent to her on Friday. While the team here is likely to receive some unofficial feedback
from her officials during the course of this week, we anticipate a formal reply will take a little time to emerge from
Baroness Neville-Rolfe.
Follow up on actions from the Report:
e Deloitte have now begun their substantive work and first meetings between Deloitte and Fujitsu, and Deloitte
and our Financial Services Centre, will take place this week.
¢ Brian Altman QC is instructed on the legal recommendations and has confirmed that he will turn to this as soon
as the terrorism trial he is currently engaged with comes to an end.
e Regrettably, investigations into the particularised complaints made against the advice provided by call handlers
at the NBSC helpline have been slowed. This is because of complications caused by the decommissioning of an

information system which had previously been used to record call handlers details. However, a ‘work around’
has now been identified and work is being progressed as a priority.
Mediation Scheme:
The Scheme itself is beginning to wind down, with the team having now concluded the long programme of investigations
and mediations. A significant effort is underway to ensure that all relevant documentation is properly preserved and
catalogued so as to continue to be accessible to support the work of the Criminal Cases Review Commission, and should
any litigation emerge. Despite further suggestions in the press that formal proceedings against Post Office are imminent,
we have not received anything from the solicitors acting in the case (Freeths) that suggests that proceedings may be
imminent.
Please let me know if you have any questions on the above.
Kind regards,
Jane
