The Case Management Conference was held yesterday in relation to the Postmaster Litigation. This was a procedural
hearing which addressed a range of issues, the most material of which were:

© Atrial has been set for 5 November 2018 which is expected to last for 20 days to determine issues relating to
the postmaster contracts.

e The date for new Claimants to join the action has been extended until 24 November 2017. As a result we expect
at least a further 70 applicants to join the litigation.

e Orders were made for the selection of 6 lead cases to be heard at the trial, from a pool of 12.

e Orders were made regarding the disclosure of certain categories of information as part of the preparation for
the trial (Freeths had asked for extremely wide ranging disclosure and the orders provide for a more limited
approach), and the applicants are also required to provide certain information to us which to date had not been
forthcoming.

* The claimants are required to provide more information on the value of their claims.

Press representatives were in Court during the hearing and we expect that there will be some press coverage over the
next few days. The Post Office media team are on standby with prepared lines.

We will meet with the legal team over the next few days to understand in more detail the implications of the Orders and
the scale of the work that will be required over the next 13 months. I will be able to provide a more detailed verbal
update at the Board on 31 October should that be required.
