had a somewhat unsatisfactory conversation with Tom Aldred yesterday regarding the PO attendees at
the meeting on 17 October. Tom explained that the ‘direction’ that there should be only 2-3 POL attendees
came from Alex Chisolm and therefore will be difficult to change, although a representation directly from
Paula may work to increase the representation to 4.

Their expectation is that Al and I would attend; and as we know Tom C and Tim P had discussed that Tim P
would attend (although Tim has volunteered to stand down if necessary). I reiterated the various
arguments, but Tom A is just a messenger and, as far as I can see, has no influence.

For tomorrow morning’s meeting, Angela will circulate a suggested timetable for the internal governance
meetings over the next 2-3 months, and the proposed topics for discussion at each one. We anticipate
using next Friday (5 October) to work through the draft pack for the UKGI briefing to ensure we have
addressed the relevant issues, including who should attend the UKGI meeting. As a reminder, the proposed
agenda is as follows:

1. I Background (Q&A based on latest written update) 5 minutes
2. I Key issues at stake in the November trial 10 minutes
3. I Implications of losing on these issues divided into 20 minutes

following consequences:

-financial (damages)

-operational consequences, including changes to
contracts with postmasters, operating procedures,
impact on operating costs and risks to POL (to include
discussion on Comms approach)

4. I Pros and cons of settlement ahead of first trial and 10 minutes
report on the views of the Board and Management
