Hi Al and Jane
See attached - I have gone through again with a view to addressing your points: let me know what you think.
On structured discussions, I think that if we are saying we mediate all non-criminal, and mediate, if there is cause, the non-criminal
elements of criminal cases, the case for structured discussions starts to fall.
On suspense accounts, I think we should make clear that in this option we would engage with Second Sight on issues relevant to
individual cases - so if suspense accounts are a factor in a particular case, yes we should focus on that, but if there is no evidence
they are relevant to cases, we shouldn't engage in detail. I have tried to capture that.
Best wishes,
Mark

Mark, this feels to have to have lost some of the subtlety of the conversations that we have been having:
- looking at mediating the non-criminal element of criminal cases
- supporting the criminal cases with structured conversations -allowing SS to finish their work and working positively with them on
suspense accounts
- saying the note for SC is all about the inaccurate stuff - which it is but is also about setting out our narrative and answering the
SC's conversations
I think the tone will disconcert the SC and will be unhelpful if its ever gets into the public domain, legal privilege being a tricky
thing.
Can we write it as you speak and as you would write externally please?
Thanks Al

All
Please see attached a first draft of paper for the Sparrow sub committee. Please can you make this a priority and let me have
comments by close of play today. Please ignore the formatting on the paper, which will be fixed once we are all happy. Please restrict
to substantive comments. This follows Exco-sub group call on Friday.
Thanks
Best wishes,
Mark
