Subject: Re: Complaint Review and Mediation Scheme

Hi Nick

The reports are made available on the basis in my email to you of last Thursday.

Mel can provide you with our statement and indeed detailed rebuttal to any point you would like to raise.
We have more than 250 pages of rebuttal, in fact, on every single point.

Best wishes

Mark

Hi Mark
Andy has sent me the Post Office reply to second sight’s briefing report part two and I have read
most of it. I hope to finish it by the end of today, although I am currently filming with Channel 5.

I would like to publish your reply on my blog alongside the second sight report. However, as your
reply was received by the BBC on the understanding it would remain confidential, and I am sure
Andy passed it on to me with the same understanding, I will not post it without your permission
(or unless I receive it from another source without any strings attached).

If you are unable or unwilling to give me permission to post your reply in full (without comment)
on my blog - do you have an already published summary response or statement you can send to
me? I will use it again without comment and also link from my blog to the report you published in
March.

Thanks

Nick

It's not a rebuttal, it is a 90 page response to every point.

I've made clear the position.

Yes just spoken to Andy - he is sending your rebuttal over to me now.
Could I publish both that and the Second Sight report on my blog? There doesn’t
seem any reason not to...

No that is the report which we published in March we you and all other outlets who
have covered this ignored.

T've set out the terms on which the reports will be made available in my email to you
and others last Thursday.

Our response to the Second Sight report extends to 90 pages. Your colleague
Andrew Verity has it. Though he didn't refer to it just now.

Forgive me - if that’s wrong I’ll correct it and yes I would love to see
the PO response to the Second Sight report.

It’s a clever tactic handing the Second Sight over to media organisations
without publishing - they can’t call it a leak and you get to exercise some
control over it by offering it with strings.

I would be most grateful, if, in the interests of transparency you let me
publish the Second Sight report and the Post Office response, without
comment, on my blog. Then the public, who are paying for all this, can
draw their own conclusions.

Surely that’s fair?

I GRO

Contrary to your blog we have not published the report online and will
not do so. We published a report in March which you have consistently
ignored. The reports referees today have been made available to you and
others confidentially and on basis they are not reproduced.

Subject: Fwd: Complaint Review
and Mediation Scheme

Hi Nick

As below. Also sent on Thursday
to Jane French and Jason Horton
at BBC South, the Today
programme and PM, as outlets
which have previously covered this
issue. Also to Computer Weekly
and to your BBC address as
below.

Tam copying to Andrew Verity
who has called us this afternoon
about a "leak", which is puzzling.

I would note also that the BBC has
not at any point covered our own
report on this issue, published in
March.

Best wishes

Mark
