1,2 I You-may-have-noticedintin the latest edition of Business Focus (September) that-Alan Barrie
provided an update on his executive promise relating to the delivery of major changes to the
way our systems helpsupport us doin managing and transacting our business. His progress
update stated that ‘branches can expect a rationalisation of accounting systems, including
the ultimate removal of the cash account’.
The programme of changes that will deliver this executive-promise-for Alan is IMPACT
(IMProved ACcounTing). You may have also heard this referred to as the End to End
Simplification of Accounts Programme.

So what is the IMPACT Programme ?

The Business has had a long-standing desire to improve the end-to-end sales-and-branch
accounting processes and it is also recognised that the Business needs to align to industry
standards of accounting.
The scope of the programme includes

What does this mean for TP ?
The Programme will have impacts on TP in several areas. The main areas of impact are:
Removal of the Cash Account
e — Introduction of a new SAP accounting system — POL FS (Post Office Ltd Financial
17 System) and parallel running of ledgers with CBDB
18 ¢ — Introduction of new verification processes
e Introduction of Debt Recovery Case Management (functionality of the new POL FS
SAP system)
« De-commissioning of OPTIP, CBDB and some other smaller systems currently used

Obviously there will be a need for awareness, training and changes to existing processes to
enable us to deal with these major challenges.
Watch this space
Numerous awareness sessions have been held for managers within TP and Cash
Management and several managers have already been involved in inputting to business
20 I requirements. Over the next few months itis-tikely-that-more involvement will be required
from the affected teams. We are also in the process of planning further communication and
awareness activities, so watch this space !
