In view of all the time and other pressures on us and for various other reasons NEDs have asked that we should
reconsider the SID process . A significant majority now believe we should proceed with an internal appointment . One
of our colleagues is 50:50 and I guess Lorna would still be voting for an external Whitehall experienced person .
Everyone else now prefers an internal appointment ie 7 1/2 votes for with 1 1/2 against .
Please could I have your confirmation tomorrow that we should suspend the process with the search firm and inform
Lorna . Ben and Brian are not at the meeting but Ben is not involved and Brian was very clear that we should now go
internally .
I will go back to our notes regarding the choice of which of our colleagues you all thoughtwould be preferred person .
I will contact you if you have not previously expressed an opinion .
