Purpose
This is an introductory meeting with Alex Chisholm, the new Permanent Secretary of BEIS
and new UKGI Board member.

Potential Discussion Topics
It would be useful if you could

e seek feedback from the Perm Sec on the relationship with, and performance of, UKGI
for BEIS including with assets previously owned by DECC;

e understand what priorities the Perm Sec has for BEIS in the coming months and how
UKGI can support these;

e share your vision and aims for the UKGI board.

Attached at Annex A is the power point presentation on UKGI that Mark recently presented
to the Perm Sec in their introductory meeting.

Annex A - Alex Chisholm Biography

Alex Chisholm became Permanent Secretary for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial
Strategy (BEIS) in September 2016. Prior to that he was Joint Permanent Secretary for BEIS.

He is also:

e Trustee and Deputy Chair at the international charity Breadline Africa

Previous career highlights include:

e Permanent Secretary for the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC)

* Chief Executive of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)

e Chairperson and Commissioner of lreland’s communications regulatory agency, ComReg

e Chair of the Economic Regulators Network in Ireland

* senior executive positions in the media, technology and e-commerce industries, with Pearson plc,
Financial Times Group, eCountries Inc and Ecceleration Ltd
