FIRST STATEMENT OF JEFFREY PAUL BROWN
I, Jeffery Paul Brown will say as follows
INTRODUCTION
1. Approximately 23 years ago I was employed by the Post Office
as a Horizon Field Officer.
2. This witness statement is made to assist the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry
(the’Inquiry’) with the matters set out in the Rule 9 Request dated 3 January
2023 (the ‘Request’).
BACKGROUND
3. lattended a training course to enable me to assist Postmasters both in the
Crown and sub post offices to operate the Horizon system.
4. My job was to travel to Post Offices and assist the staff to understand and
use the Horizon System.
5. In my view the staff were trained adequately to use the new system.

6. Whilst I was employed as a Horizon Field Officer, I had no knowledge of any
complaints.
7. I was also not aware of any defects or bugs in the system.
