Subject: FW: Call with Paula Vennells
David called me about this. He is sending over a briefing note which will be used by Paula for the meeting with Tony
Hooper and the latest case report from Second sight as an indication of the current quality of work they are
producing
Their meeting with Tony Hooper is to give him an update on where the scheme is up to and to explain the Post
Office's current thinking on the options for its future so as to try to gauge Tony Hooper's possible reaction to whatever
decision they make in due course.
The call tomorrow is for Paula to sound you out about a) whether you think the approach they are going to take with
Tony Hooper is too strident (or not strident enough) and b) your feel for how a senior (ex-?)member of the judiciary is
likely to react to and should be approached on what they think may be a sensitive discussion. David asked that I not
be involved in the call as it is really to get your views and not necessary that I be on it (unless you want me to listen
in). Happy to discuss anything arising from the materials they send through overnight if that will help.

Christa,
Apologies for the short notice request.
Paula has asked if you would be available to take part in a pre brief call (with her, Chris and Belinda) ahead of her
and Chris meeting Tony Hooper this week.
Due to pressure on Paula’s diary we only have a slot at 2pm tomorrow for 30 minutes. I realise this is short notice
and you may not be available but if you are able to make the call that would be great.
if you are able to make the call Paula would appreciate your external perspective and views on how to approach the
meeting with Tony Hooper.
Many Thanks
David
