Mr Joan Francis Bailey the sub postmaster of the above branch was caution on 23
November 2011.
The advice on page 39 to 40 of this file was for Mrs Bailey to be cautioned
The initial shortage reported was £13,044.23, however due to transaction corrections this
has reduced to £12,706.06. Mrs Bailey has via her solicitor submitted a letter of
undertaking that when the business is sold, her solicitors will reimburse Post Office Ltd
with the outstanding amount.
Mr and Mrs Bailey on 23 November 2011 were advised to keep Post Office Ltd informed
of all developments / aspects regarding the selling of the business. They were also
advised if they changed solicitors they must inform Post Office Ltd.
It was said to Mr and Mrs Bailey that in view of the current economic climate it may be
difficult to sell the business and if this is still the case in February 2012, it may be prudent
for them to seek other avenues of repaying the outstanding amount.
No investigation or prosecution costs were ordered.
These papers are sent so that the outcome can be noted and the papers filed away in due
course.
