Dear J Harris

Your ref POL006-1360714-JHH
POL00259733
POL00259733

Thank you for your letter dated 27th November 2018 along with its enclosures which I am returning to you
untouched.

You appear to be acting on incorrect and improper instructions from your client Post Office Ltd.

T have not left my position as Postmaster for Hope Farm Rd and Grove Rd Post Offices I still hold a valid
contract for both Branches. I am however precautionarily suspended from my duties at the moment due to
your clients perception of circumstances that I have, as yet, not been given the opportunity to have a dialogue
with your clients representative to put my side of the story to your client. I have a meeting arranged for the 4th
December 2018 to discuss this.

I dispute that I owe your client the sum of £35,620.39 in fact I am currently making repayments towards this
figure from my remuneration albeit under duress and without prejudice. I do not admit liability for this sum of
money as your clients have not provided any evidence that I am liable under the terms of my Contract that the
money they are claiming is a debt caused by my own actions.

To this end I have registered as a secondary claimant to the Group Litigation Order currently being dealt with
by the High Court in the matter of Bates and others vs Post Office Limited which is currently under way.
Your client is fully aware of this litigation against them and in my opinion they should not be taking any
further action against Postmasters until the High Court has reached a decision about the rights and remedies
under the various Postmaster Contracts that the Post Office actually has.

I believe your client has instructed you prematurely as their own internal procedures have not even been
commenced and my liability for this sum of money has not been examined let alone proved and as I have
alluded to, they might not even have the contractual right to hold me liable under the terms of the contract
especially if their computerised accounting system, Horizon, is found to be the potential cause of
discrepancies. Which I assert is the position concerning the misbalancing in my case.

I look forward to your apology and to your confirmation that you will not be commencing the actions you
have indicated you intend to take against me.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Murray
